Recently, the State Council Food Safety Office held discussions with the government officials of Chengdu and Hechuan District of Chongqing regarding the food safety issues exposed during the 2026 “315” Gala, urging local authorities to strictly investigate illegal activities in accordance with the law, conduct a thorough analysis of the causes of the problems, identify weak links in their work, and take effective measures for rectification to ensure the safety of the people’s “food on the tip of their tongues.” The State Administration for Market Regulation also held discussions with the government officials of Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Suzhou, Zhengzhou, and Shenyang regarding other related issues exposed during the gala.

The problems exposed during the CCTV “315” Gala fundamentally stem from the ineffective implementation of the main responsibility of some producers and operators, and it also revealed that in some areas, local management responsibilities were not fulfilled, there was insufficient capability to detect problems, and there were shortcomings and loopholes in daily supervision and inspection.

Relevant local governments must deeply understand the extreme importance of food safety work and maintaining market order, effectively enhance their sense of responsibility, urgency, and mission, strictly implement the “four strictest” requirements, thoroughly investigate and resolve the issues exposed during the gala in accordance with the law, and maintain a strict punishment and high-pressure posture; they must focus on implementing responsibilities, seriously hold relevant responsible units and individuals accountable in accordance with regulations and laws, and solidly carry out “one case, double investigation”; they must deeply learn from the lessons of the problems, conduct thorough inspections and rectifications by drawing lessons from the problems, strengthen supervision across the entire chain and all fields, improve risk prevention and resolution mechanisms, resolutely prevent similar problems from occurring again, effectively safeguard consumers’ legitimate rights and interests, and strive to create a safe and reassuring consumption environment.
