Users need not only to verify the correctness of header information, but also to be able to read the blockchain in a privacy-preserving and censorship-resistant manner. Remote procedure calls (RPC) cannot provide this capability, nor can even Helios and Colibri. Ethereum's future lies in becoming a network where data and transaction throughput far exceed what a single node needs to process, but to truly achieve permissionlessness and freedom from bottlenecks, more than just zero-knowledge proofs are needed.
