JPMorgan will open up the opportunity for clients to purchase bitcoin

The financial conglomerate JPMorgan will soon allow clients to purchase their first cryptocurrency, but will not act as its custodian. This was stated by the bank's CEO Jamie Dimon, as reported by CoinDesk.

The Bitcoin skeptic has not changed his viewpoint. The top manager emphasized that he is still not a "fan" of digital gold, as the asset is "used in illegal activities."

"We have been talking about blockchain for 12-15 years. We spend too much on it. It's not as important as you all think," he commented.

In May, the digital payment platform Kinexys from JPMorgan conducted settlements using the DvP scheme with a tokenized cash fund in the Ondo Chain test network. This was made possible by Chainlink's CCIP technology.

Recall that in September 2024, Dimon called the institution one of the largest users of blockchain.

Earlier, the top manager questioned the limit of Bitcoin emission at 21 million coins. In December 2023, at a meeting with US lawmakers, Diamond stated the need for serious restrictions on cryptocurrencies, calling for their "closure".
