Microsoft introduces Musk's xAI large model into the cloud computing platform.

On May 19 local time, Microsoft announced at its Build 2025 Developer Conference that it will introduce Elon Musk's xAI company's Grok 3 and Grok 3 mini artificial intelligence models to the Azure AI Foundry platform as new products that will be directly hosted and charged within Microsoft's cloud platform.

Azure AI Foundry is a platform within Microsoft Azure designed to help developers build, customize, and manage AI applications and agents. Microsoft states that users of Azure cloud services can access over 1,900 AI models, including those from Microsoft partners OpenAI, Meta, and DeepSeek. The addition of xAI models expands the range of choices available to users.

It is worth noting that Musk also appeared in a video link during the keynote speech of Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella (. He expressed hope that developers could provide feedback on the Grok AI model.

Looking to the future, he expressed a desire to expand the scope of the business: "We look forward to providing this service to other companies." Finally, he told the developers: "Tell us what you want, and we will make it happen."

Previously, both parties had conflicts due to OpenAI. In November last year, Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI escalated again. Musk submitted a new complaint to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, adding more antitrust allegations to the lawsuit filed in August, and naming Microsoft and California Attorney General Bonta as defendants. In the new complaint, Musk accused OpenAI of attempting to monopolize the generative artificial intelligence market.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also engaged in a dialogue with Nadella via video livestream. They discussed how artificial intelligence is changing software development and how AI tools are becoming more like useful team members capable of taking on complex coding tasks. Altman stated that AI models are rapidly improving, becoming better at understanding different types of inputs, and able to collaborate more smoothly with other tools.

The four-day Build 2025 Developer Conference is Microsoft's launch event for its comprehensive embrace of AI-native development, intelligent agents, and the reconstruction of the Windows ecosystem. In the keynote speech that opened on Monday, Microsoft showcased how to upgrade the "AI assistant" to an "AI development partner" and promote the full entry of AI applications, development, and enterprise operations into the "agentic" era.

On April 30 local time, Microsoft released its third fiscal quarter earnings report, showing revenue of $70.07 billion, earnings per share of $3.46, intelligent cloud business revenue of $26.8 billion, and cloud revenue of $42.4 billion. In the third fiscal quarter, Azure's growth contributed 16 percentage points to the artificial intelligence (AI) business.
