Top hedge fund executives: Bitcoin needs to meet three major conditions to become a mainstream investment.
Recently, senior investment research executives from a top global hedging fund company, in an interview with the media, elaborated on the three key conditions required for the company to consider investing in Bitcoin.
The primary condition is a significant reduction in Bitcoin's volatility. The executive pointed out that Bitcoin's volatility is currently about ten times that of the dollar, and even higher than some emerging market currencies. She emphasized that to become a diversified investment tool, Bitcoin must first improve its stability.
Secondly, the Bitcoin market needs to have stronger liquidity. Finally, and most critically, is the establishment of a clear regulatory framework. The executive stated that as the regulatory ecosystem surrounding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies improves, it will attract a more diverse group of investors. This will not only bring higher liquidity but also further reduce market volatility. She particularly emphasized the importance of regulatory certainty, but also acknowledged that it is currently difficult to predict when the United States will establish a clear regulatory system.
When discussing the essence of Bitcoin, the executive stated that she does not believe Bitcoin is a currency in the traditional sense. However, she anticipates that over time, Bitcoin may evolve into a role of "digital gold."
It is worth noting that this global largest hedging fund company was established in 1975 and currently manages over 150 billion USD in assets. The company's founder publicly praised Bitcoin last month as "a remarkable innovation" and stated that it "deserves our close attention."
These remarks reflect the subtle shift in attitudes towards cryptocurrencies within the traditional financial sector, while also highlighting the challenges that Bitcoin faces on its path to becoming a mainstream investment tool. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, there is a general expectation in the industry for a more mature market environment and clearer regulatory guidance.
