BREAKING NEWS: It is alleged that Donald Trump criticized Ripple for not supporting him in the elections!
According to a report published by Unchained, US President Donald Trump criticized the blockchain company Ripple, behind XRP, for the financial support he gave to Vice President Kamala Harris during the election campaign.
The report, citing an article published by Axios on Wednesday, detailed the words Trump allegedly used during a meeting with representatives of an unnamed company. Trump reportedly said, 'You made so much money last year, and now you will make much more because of me... But where were you when I needed you? You were not with me and maybe you were with Kamala Harris.'
Two sources told Unchained that the company mentioned by Trump was Ripple. While Axios' report did not mention Ripple by name or specify when the alleged conversation took place, it noted that Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen had previously donated millions of dollars to political action committees (PACs) supporting Harris.
Ripple Labs did not issue a statement in response to these allegations, and a company spokesperson declined to comment on whether Ripple is indeed the firm not mentioned in the Axios report. Similarly, Trump's transition team also did not respond to questions on the matter.
This development sheds light on Trump's continued examination of companies and individuals he believes do not support him politically. Only time will tell whether this situation will affect Ripple's position in the cryptocurrency sector or the ongoing regulatory battles.
