INSIGHT: #SatoshiNakamoto# set Bitcoin’s supply at 21 million coins.

It wasn’t a random number — Satoshi wanted BTC to feel somewhat comparable to existing currencies, while still being scarce enough to matter. In his own words, it was an “educated guess” and “something in the middle.”

But here’s the big question people often ask: Can #Bitcoin# ’s hard cap of 21 million ever be changed?

Technically, yes — if the majority of the network agreed to rewrite the rules. But in reality, it’s extremely unlikely. The hard cap is the foundation of Bitcoin’s value. Removing or increasing it would break the trust and consensus that make #BTC# what it is.

That’s why the 21 million limit is seen as untouchable — it’s Bitcoin’s ultimate source of scarcity and the reason many call it “digital gold.”
