Blockchain officially included in the new infrastructure, the National Development and Reform Commission clarifies three categories.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission held a routine online press conference, where Wu Hao, Director of the Department of Innovation and High Technology Development, responded to questions related to new infrastructure construction (referred to as "new infrastructure"), attracting widespread attention.

Wu Hao elaborated on the three main components of the new infrastructure at the meeting:

First is the information infrastructure. This type of infrastructure is built on the foundation of the new generation of information technology, including communication network infrastructure (such as 5G, Internet of Things, industrial Internet, satellite Internet, etc.), new technology infrastructure (such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, blockchain, etc.), and computing power infrastructure (such as data centers, intelligent computing centers, etc.).

The second is the integration of infrastructure. This refers to the transformation and upgrading of traditional infrastructure through the deep application of technologies such as the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence, resulting in a new type of infrastructure. Typical examples include smart transportation infrastructure and smart energy infrastructure.

The third is innovative infrastructure. This type of infrastructure mainly serves scientific research, technology development, and product manufacturing, possessing public welfare attributes. This includes major scientific and technological infrastructure, educational and scientific infrastructure, as well as industrial technology innovation infrastructure.

It is noteworthy that the concept of "new infrastructure construction" was first proposed at the Central Economic Work Conference held at the end of 2018, which included 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial internet, and the Internet of Things. The statement from the National Development and Reform Commission further clarifies the important position of blockchain technology in the new infrastructure, listing it as one of the important components of the new infrastructure.

This series of measures indicates that our country is vigorously promoting infrastructure construction centered around a new generation of information technology, aiming to lay a solid foundation for future economic development and technological innovation. New infrastructure not only includes the digital upgrade of traditional infrastructure but also encompasses innovative infrastructure that supports future technological development, reflecting the country's strategic layout in promoting high-quality development.
