Microsoft turned Edge into an AI assistant
Microsoft Corporation has added a new feature called Copilot Mode to the Edge browser, which allows users to browse web pages using artificial intelligence.
After activating the mode, a new tab opens for the user, where they can search, communicate, and navigate to web pages using Copilot. When visiting websites, there is an option to consult the AI assistant for help.
In one example, Microsoft demonstrated how someone asked the AI companion if the found recipe could be made vegan.
The ability to ask questions to chatbots is not new, but Copilot Mode simplifies the process as there is no need to forward content.
AI can also be asked to provide the recipe itself, eliminating the need to read the author's "life story," which often accompanies such instructions.
The corporation noted that Copilot is capable of performing tasks on behalf of the user such as booking meetings, creating shopping lists, and preparing content. Additionally, voice input is available.
Another feature is the viewing of open tabs. The AI can do this to understand the content being viewed. This is useful for comparing products or conducting online research.
The idea is for AI to become an assistant that understands the user's search queries, anticipates their intentions, and is capable of taking actions on their behalf.
Copilot Mode is available for free to all Mac or PC owners with access to Copilot.
Recall that in July, Microsoft released a number of new AI-based features for Windows 11.
