The team stated that this is a new consensus protocol that can reduce the consensus time on Sui by 80% to 390 milliseconds, making it the fastest consensus layer in the industry. Mysticeti was developed based on in-depth research on the Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus mechanism, representing the progress of Narwhal-Bullshark. Sui has introduced the consensus algorithm in its Mainnet. This enhancement optimizes resource utilization, reduces developer complexity, and allows the Sui network to process tens of thousands of transactions per second with latency well below one second.
