On August 30th, Jinshi Data reported that the Israeli government voted to maintain its military presence in the Philadelphia Corridor in Gaza, which was proven to be a key issue in the ceasefire negotiations with Hamas. According to Thursday's meeting records seen by the agency, almost all members of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's security cabinet approved this policy. Earlier, Hamas insisted that once the ceasefire begins, the Israeli army must leave this area located along the Egypt-Gaza border in the southern Palestinian territory. This issue has frustrated mediators as they try to persuade both sides to pause and ultimately end the destructive conflict in Gaza, which has now entered its 12th month. In the past few weeks, Israel has taken a more firm stance on the Philadelphia Corridor. Netanyahu said that his soldiers need to be there to prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons from Egypt to Gaza.
