Trump: Cryptocurrency has become mainstream, the White House will not let banks undermine crypto market structure legislation

Trump warned the banking industry not to obstruct crypto legislation at the event. During this private gathering, dubbed "the most exclusive global meeting," focused on finance, Trump reiterated his White House crypto advisor’s stance on the "Digital Asset Market Clarity Act," countering bank lobbyists who have stalled the bill. The bill is a top policy goal for the crypto industry. Trump stated: "The White House will not let banks destroy the crypto market structure legislation."

In recent months of negotiations, banking groups have persuaded some senators on how U.S. regulation could pave the way for stablecoin reward programs, with industry advocates arguing that such plans could threaten their traditional deposit accounts. This opposition derailed Senate progress in establishing new regulatory frameworks for crypto, but recent discussions suggest the bill could still get back on track and potentially continue amid this year’s tightening legislative schedule. Trump has indicated this is one of his priorities.

Guests at the event included Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood, Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley, and boxer Mike Tyson was also present. Regarding the digital asset industry, Trump maintained his usual stance: "We are leaders in the crypto space; it has become mainstream." At the time of the meeting, Trump continued to support crypto projects named after him, sparking industry backing and political scrutiny. His close personal ties with digital asset companies became another point of controversy during the passage of the "Clarity Act," with Democratic negotiators insisting that senior government officials, including the president, be prohibited from profiting from the industry.
