Mars Finance reports that on April 11, according to the Wall Street Journal citing officials familiar with U.S. intelligence assessments, Iran’s arsenal still contains thousands of ballistic missiles and can be launched by retrieving launchers from underground storage areas.
Some U.S. officials expressed concern that Iran might use the ceasefire period to reorganize part of its missile stockpile.
The picture depicted in U.S. intelligence reports shows that Iran still has the capability to reorganize some of its missile forces.
U.S. officials stated that although more than half of Iran’s missile launchers have been destroyed, damaged, or trapped underground, a significant portion of the remaining launchers can still be repaired or excavated from underground facilities.
U.S. and Israeli officials said that Iran’s missile stockpile has roughly halved during this conflict but still retains thousands of short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, which can be retrieved from hiding places or underground facilities.
U.S. officials indicated that Iran still maintains a small stockpile of cruise missiles.
If U.S.-Iran negotiations break down, these missiles could be used to strike ships in the Persian Gulf or U.S. forces attempting to seize islands.
