Local time on the 10th, Toronto police said that the U.S. Consulate in Toronto was shot at early in the morning, with no reports of injuries. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they are strengthening security at the U.S. and Israeli consulates. Police said they received a report around 5:30 a.m. that someone had opened fire at the U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto. Upon arrival, they found shell casings and damage to the building. No specific suspect information is available yet. Canadian Public Safety Minister Gary Ananda Sanga said that this shooting is absolutely unacceptable and Canada does not tolerate any form of intimidation or violence. RCMP Commissioner Chris Lethar said at a press conference that the police are investigating the shooting as a “national security incident,” but it is too early to determine the motive.
