Meru University Students Recognized for a Blockchain Healthcare Solution at the Innovate at Konza Forum
Block Health Integrates the Blockchain into the Health Sector – A Solution by 2 Kenyan StudentsTwo students from Meru University have come in second place for a healthcare solution that integrates the blockchain, called Block Health, at The Konza Smart Cities Challlenge which was organized by the Konza Technopolis.
The pitching challenge was part of the larger event which was aimed at enriching the countries innovation ecosystem that includes academia. Meru University and Machakos Universities were the two universities pitching innovative solutions.
“Partnerships are crucial for innovation to succeed. The government is working to provide an enabling environment for innovation to thrive.” Said Jerome Ochieng, PS, Ministry of ICT.
According to the CEO, Konza Technopolis Development Authority, the academia challenge is not limited to just the two universities but will eventually include other learning institutions.
Konza Technopolis will host a startup hub at the smart city location which requires innovative ideas that will be incubated and this is the first step towards that goal.
Safaricom, Huawei and KCB Group are the first partners to work with the Konza Technopolis to nurture innovation through its Ecosystem Innovation Forum.
