ZK-Rollup New Paradigm: Comprehensive Layer2 scaling solution

A New Paradigm of Rollup Technology: One-Stop ZK Solutions

As the number of Ethereum users continues to rise, the network is becoming increasingly busy, especially when popular projects are launched, leading to gas fees often soaring. At the same time, due to the continuous rise in ETH prices, high transaction fees hinder small transactions. Therefore, improving storage efficiency, transaction throughput, and reducing transaction latency is crucial for the development of Ethereum.

Traditional Layer 1 scaling solutions include both On-chain and Off-chain forms. On-chain refers to optimizing Layer 1 by changing the consensus mechanism, implementing sharding, and expanding block size, etc.; Off-chain is about off-chain scaling, mainly including sidechains and Layer 2. Layer 2 relies on the security protocols of the mainnet, so it often has an advantage in terms of security.

The implementation logic of Layer 2 is to process information off-chain and transmit the results on-chain, which not only improves transaction efficiency but also leverages the high security of the ETH mainnet. Currently, the mainstream implementation solutions include three types: Channel, Plasma, and Rollup. As a further extension of Plasma, Rollup has higher security, state validity, and data verification capabilities, and has become the basic direction for the development of Layer 2.

Rollups are divided into two main branches: Optimistic Rollups and ZK Rollups. Optimistic Rollups assume that the submitted transaction results are optimistic and do not require immediate verification of each transaction, setting a challenge period for validators to dispute. ZK Rollups, on the other hand, immediately verify the correctness of transactions through zero-knowledge proofs, ensuring nearly 100% fraud resistance. Overall, ZK Rollups provide higher security and do not have the delayed confirmation of challenge periods, presenting better application prospects.

However, due to the technical implementation difficulty of ZK-Rollup being much higher than that of Optimistic-Rollup, the Rollup market is still dominated by Optimistic-Rollup. A certain trading platform currently leads in Optimistic-Rollup, accounting for 31.36% of the TVL share, while a certain ZK-Rollup platform only accounts for 1.32%. How to shape a standardized ZK-Rollup solution and expand its application market has become a key issue. The comprehensive solutions provided by some emerging platforms may become the breakthrough key.

A certain ZK comprehensive platform is a globally distributed modular computing network that combines with the DePIN network to provide computing power support for ZK-Rollup, ZK ML, ZKP, and more. At the same time, it focuses on the construction of ZK-RaaS, aiming to provide a complete set of ZK Rollup deployment and implementation solutions to address various issues such as incompatibility among current ZK-Rollup solutions, centralization of computing power, and concentration of risks.

The platform has been deeply engaged in the ZK field for many years, and its founders have held senior positions in several top technology companies and investment firms, possessing rich technical knowledge and experience in blockchain project management. Since 2018, the team has been dedicated to exploration and research in the ZK field.

Project Development History:

  • Established in March 2022 in Hong Kong, dedicated to becoming a blockchain scaling infrastructure provider, focusing on ZK-RaaS.
  • Completed $4 million seed round financing in April 2023
  • Brand rebranding in October 2023
  • Completed a $6 million Pre-Series A financing in March 2024, with a valuation of $120 million.
  • Strategic round financing completed in May 2024, with a valuation of 300 million USD.
  • Whitelist node pre-sale starts in June 2024
  • Launching public sale of nodes in July 2024, in collaboration with a trading platform for a Launchpad event.

As of now, the platform has 28,403 POW nodes, 16 running Rollups, 470,000 ZKP submissions, and 20 million transactions.

Technically, the platform has launched ZK-Rollup Launchbase, supporting multiple mainstream testnets and providing various modular components such as data availability and shared sorters. It has achieved several breakthrough technologies, such as the ZKP Two-step Algorithm, NCRC, and the zkVerifier node verification mechanism. At the same time, it provides computational support for other ZK projects and has initially realized technical implementation.

The platform offers a modular computing layer, including a settlement layer, execution layer, consensus layer, data availability layer, and a core proof layer. The proof layer provides censorship-resistant distributed computing, implements ZKP, and ensures the authenticity and validity of transaction states.

Lumoz: A New Paradigm for Rollup Platforms

The platform integrates ZK computing resources with the re-staking mechanism through Oracle, zkProver, zkVerifier, and the main chain, enhancing the security of active verification services. The staked tokens act as collateral for nodes, preventing malicious behavior. This process improves resource utilization and computing efficiency, which is crucial for generating ZKPs with high computational demands.

Lumoz: A New Paradigm for Rollup Platformization

The platform supports parallel computation and sequential submission in ZKP calculation and submission mechanisms, and proposes a recursive aggregation algorithm that can aggregate multiple ZKPs into a smaller ZKP, reducing the consumption of blockchain resources.

Lumoz: A New Paradigm for Rollup Platforms

The platform provides a highly compatible ZK-RaaS solution, supporting all mainstream zkEVM technologies, allowing developers to easily deploy and launch ZK-Rollups. It supports various architectural models, including modular computing layers, native cross-Rollup communication, and customizable infrastructure services.

Lumoz: A New Paradigm for Rollup Platforms

The platform adopts a dual-token governance model, with the native mainnet token serving as the core asset, which can be used for transaction gas fees, ZKP service payments, and more. The ecological governance token is used to incentivize computing power providers and node operators, and to facilitate network delegation and decentralized governance.

Lumoz: A New Paradigm for Rollup Platforms

Overall, the emergence of this platform will integrate the ZK-Rollup ecosystem, optimize the construction process, and create an easy deployment solution. It meets the needs of industry integration, provides a modular computing layer, optimizes the ZKP process, and is expected to promote the vigorous development of ZK-Rollup projects.

Based on the analysis of the convolution theorem and section 3.2.1 of the zkSNARK protocol specification, the TPS bottleneck of L2 still exists. It is recommended to re-examine Vitalik's paper on state channels.
