FBI undercover agent assisted in capturing the serial hacker IntelBroker by paying 250 dollars in Bitcoin.

PANews, June 27, news from The Block reports that the FBI assisted in the capture of British citizen Kai West (also known as "IntelBroker"), who is suspected of being involved in a series of hacking incidents. West and his accomplices are accused of selling data stolen from over 40 victims, primarily trading using the privacy token Monero. In January 2023, an undercover law enforcement officer provided West with $250 in Bitcoin to purchase victim data, which West accepted, a critical move that allowed police to track him down. Experts from blockchain forensic company TRM Labs stated that this case highlights the progress law enforcement has made in the encryption field, applying traditional undercover methods to blockchain crime investigations. West was arrested in France in February this year and is awaiting extradition, facing multiple charges. The FBI estimates that his hacking activities have caused approximately $25 million in total losses to victims.
