Odaily Planet Daily News reported that on the 22nd, Iranian media quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghazi as saying that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the United States and Israel launching military strikes against a United Nations member state. The report said that Alaghazi had a telephone conversation with Italian Foreign Minister Tayaní to exchange views on the development of regional situations and the security, legal, and economic impacts caused by U.S.-Israeli military strikes against Iran. Alaghazi stated that Iran, as a country along the Strait of Hormuz, has taken measures in accordance with international law to safeguard national security from U.S.-Israeli aggression and threats. He emphasized that the consequences of this on the global economy should be borne by the aggressors. Alaghazi also said that the actions of the U.S. and Israel targeting Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities are unacceptable, and that some European countries remain silent on such actions, which is “double standards” that are undermining international law and non-proliferation mechanisms. Tayaní emphasized that achieving peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region is crucial, and Italy is willing to play a positive role in promoting overall regional stability. (Xinhua)
