Irán ha bloqueado el estrecho de Ormuz durante varias semanas, y según expertos, hasta ahora ninguna embarcación de LNG ha salido con carga.

Golden Finance reports; on April 7, according to traders involved in relevant shipping, since fighting broke out several weeks ago, Iran has not allowed any LNG-carrying vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to date, and this ban could worsen global supply shortages. On Monday, two tankers loaded with Qatar LNG appeared to be preparing to leave the Persian Gulf, but after a few hours they turned around and returned. Traders said these two ships had not been cleared by Iranian officials. This sudden turnaround highlights that since late February, when the United States and Israel began airstrikes against Iran, the Strait of Hormuz has clearly been under blockade. Since then, vessel traffic through the strait has fallen sharply, but tankers and other ships still have sporadic passage, which typically requires Iranian permission—while about one-fifth of global LNG supply is still cut off. Insiders said that currently, fully loaded LNG carriers are scattered around the Persian Gulf, either because they have not yet entered negotiations with Iran over passage or because they have not yet been approved. Vessel-tracking data show that more than a dozen fully loaded LNG carriers in the region are stranded. It is also possible that some ships have evaded monitoring by shutting off transponders, or that tracking is not accurate enough due to signal interference. However, both traders and vessel-tracking data point to the same conclusion: earlier in this month, only one LNG carrier had managed to sail out of the Strait of Hormuz—though it was not carrying cargo.
