CRYPTO EVENING REVIEW — 29 SEPTEMBER 2026 Market regime: 🟠 Macro hostile, but crypto deleveraging is becoming healthier Bitcoin is around $83.4K this evening after briefly trading below $83K during the latest selloff. BTC is little changed today, while ETH, XRP, SOL and BNB are modestly weaker. The key change since this morning is that the macro pressure eased from its extremes. The U.S. 10Y touched roughly 5.27% before retreating toward 5.21%, while oil also backed away from its highs. So tonight’s strongest narrative is: LEVERAGE IS LEAVING — BUT BITCOIN ISN’T. That’s potentially constructive. Glassnode data cited today show BTC is still about 35% above its August low even though open interest has fallen roughly 20% to its lowest since March. 🌏 Asia → Europe → U.S. Asia struggled with the combination of high yields, expensive energy and dollar strength. Indonesia’s benchmark fell as much as 2.2% before recovering to around -0.6%, while markets in Seoul, Taiwan and Kuala Lumpur were also weak. Europe performed considerably better, driven by technology. The STOXX 600 tech index jumped about 2.5% to a six-week high, helped by optimism around Anthropic and the AI infrastructure trade. The U.S. session is softer. Around today’s session, the S&P 500 was about -0.3%, Dow -0.6%, Nasdaq -0.1%, despite relative strength in Nvidia and Broadcom. This isn’t panic. It’s a market struggling with the cost of money. 📈 US 10Y — still the chart crypto traders need open The 10Y reached approximately: 5.27%–5.28% today before backing away somewhat. The 30Y has also reached around 5.59%, its highest since 2004. That remains an enormous headwind. There was at least some softer U.S. data today: consumer confidence reportedly fell to a 12-year low, while job openings eased slightly. That gives bond bulls something to work with. Tomorrow’s U.S. inflation data therefore becomes important. 🛢️ Oil / 💵 dollar / 🥇 gold Oil cooled from the recent spike. One current market snapshot had Brent around $96.8 and WTI near $91.7, both down roughly 1%. That’s useful for crypto because falling oil reduces the incremental inflation shock. The dollar remains firm, supported by high U.S. yields and geopolitical uncertainty. Gold is struggling around $4,168 after Monday’s >3% fall, with high real yields making non-yielding assets less attractive. So tonight: Oil ↓ 🟢 10Y off highs 🟢 Dollar firm 🔴 Equities mixed 🟠 Gold weak 🔴 Absolute yields still extreme 🔴 Better than this morning. Not good yet. ₿ BTC — $82K–$85K decides it Current BTC: ~$83.4K My overnight map: Support: $82K–$83K → $80K → $78K Resistance: $84K → $85K → $87K–$87.5K Bitcoin briefly falling below $83K reportedly contributed to roughly $500M of leveraged crypto liquidations across about 129,000 traders. That’s painful—but useful if it removes weak leverage. Tonight I want: $82K–$83K HOLDS → $84K RECLAIM Then: $85K That’s the first level where I’d start upgrading the setup. Above $85K, $87K–$87.5K returns. Lose $82K decisively and I expect: $80K A sustained break below $78K remains my structural invalidation.
