Organizações internacionais de tecnologia estabelecidas em Pequim totalizam 53 instituições
Beijing, 18 March (Reporter Chen Hang) - The Vice Mayor of Beijing, Jin Wei, stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the 18th that international scientific and technological organizations are increasingly gathering and developing in Beijing. Last year, four new international scientific and technological organizations were added, bringing the total to 53 in the city, with Chaoyang District establishing the country’s first international scientific and technological organization headquarters cluster.
Jin Wei emphasized that strengthening international scientific and technological exchange and cooperation, and gathering global innovative factors and resources, is essential for building Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) into an international scientific and technological innovation center.
Beijing is creating a more globally competitive open innovation ecosystem and continuously deepening international exchange and cooperation. Jin Wei mentioned that the international basic science conference held annually in Beijing is gradually becoming a grand event for top scholars worldwide to discuss the future of science. The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) World Conference 2025, to be held in Beijing, will attract representatives from 97 countries and regions, and the “Zhongguancun Initiative” released will gather the wisdom and consensus of global science parks.
Beijing is actively promoting global industrial collaboration. Jin Wei stated that in 2025, the number of newly established foreign-funded enterprises in Beijing is expected to grow by nearly 20% year-on-year, with a total of 332 foreign-funded R&D centers. Cambridge University is conducting innovative cooperation with the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, and organizations such as the German Steinbeis Technology Transfer Centre and the UK P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator are developing in Beijing. AstraZeneca has established its sixth global strategic R&D center in the city. Multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly, Sanofi, and Johnson & Johnson are also establishing a presence in Beijing.
Beijing is actively participating in global innovation governance and continuously accelerating the construction of world-class scientific journals. Jin Wei noted that over the past three years, more than 60 new English scientific journals have been added in Beijing, with ten journals, including “Computational Visual Media,” ranking first in the world in comprehensive impact evaluation within their fields.
“Beijing is a fertile ground for technological innovation,” said Jin Wei, adding that Beijing will promote reform through openness and stimulate development through reform, achieving broader, wider, and deeper international exchange and cooperation. (End)
