Comboio preso numa túnel durante 3 horas retoma a circulação, passageiros: crianças chorando de calor, não deixaram quebrar janelas, várias pessoas suspeitas de desmaiar
D3665 train trapped in tunnel for 3 hours due to power outage, passengers say children cried from heat but were not allowed to break windows, Guangzhou Railway apologizes
Extreme News reporter Wang Can
On the afternoon of March 29, the D3665 train from Guilin North to Zhuhai was trapped for more than 3 hours in a tunnel between Foshan and Guangzhou South Station, with complete power outage in the carriage. A passenger told Extreme News that it was very stuffy inside the carriage, and some children cried from the heat, but the crew did not allow them to get off the train or break the windows.
That afternoon, the 12306 customer service replied to Extreme News that the train delay was due to heavy rain in Guangzhou. “Guangzhou Railway” issued a statement stating: At around 3:00 PM on the 29th, strong rainfall and tornado affected the Nanguang High-speed Railway, and the Guizhou-Guangdong High-speed Railway, between Guangzhou South and Foshan West Station, as well as the Guangzhan High-speed Railway, where foreign objects caused faults in the contact network, leading to varying degrees of delays for some passing trains. The railway department activated the emergency plan immediately and carried out urgent repairs.
At 7:30 PM on March 29, a passenger on the D3665 train told Extreme News that the train resumed operation at 6:30 PM that evening. During the train’s delay, several passengers reportedly fainted, and multiple ambulances arrived on the scene to take these passengers to the hospital for treatment. The aforementioned passenger also informed the reporter that they had received a text message from the railway department stating that they would compensate for the travel expenses for the section from Foshan to Guangzhou.
On the evening of the 29th, “Guangzhou Railway” issued another announcement, stating that after the railway department’s full efforts in emergency repairs, the foreign object in the contact network between Foshan and Liwan on the Guangzhan High-speed Railway was cleared by 6:12 PM and by 6:35 PM on the Nanguang High-speed Railway and Guizhou-Guangdong High-speed Railway between Guangzhou South and Foshan West Station, the equipment fault had been resolved, and train operation was gradually being restored. The railway department expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused to the majority of passengers due to the train suspension and delays.
