In June 2025, tensions in the Middle East rose sharply, and the military conflict between Israel and Iran worsened sharply. In the early hours of June 13, the Israeli military launched a large-scale air campaign against nuclear facilities, air defense systems, and military command centers in Iran, declaring it a "preventive strike." The operation severely damaged the Tabriz airbase, killing and wounding several senior Iranian military generals.
In response, Iran quickly launched a counterattack, firing nearly a hundred missiles and multiple drones towards Israeli territory, with several cities including Tel Aviv being attacked. The Israeli side reported that most of the incoming missiles were successfully intercepted, but 63 civilians were still injured in the attack. Both leaders subsequently issued tough statements, escalating the situation further. Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei delivered a speech, threatening to "completely eliminate the Israeli regime," while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu defended the military actions, stating that it was to eliminate the nuclear threat from Iran.
The conflict immediately sparked widespread attention from the international community, prompting an emergency consultation meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Russia and France called on all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and prevent further escalation of the situation. It is noteworthy that although the U.S. government officially denies direct involvement in this military action, multiple analyses suggest that the U.S. holds a tacit approval stance towards Israel's actions.
The recent military confrontation has already had a significant impact on the global economy, with international oil prices soaring 8% on the day the conflict erupted. Analysts warn that if the conflict continues to escalate, the situation in the Middle East could spiral completely out of control, posing serious challenges to global supply chains and financial markets. The deterioration of regional security has also raised deep concerns within the international community regarding energy security and geopolitical stability.
