Capital Star Capital Bureau, April 7: Today, the official website of Fuwa International Group published a obituary. Group Honorary Chairman and Director of the China Zitan Museum, Chen Lihua, passed away in Beijing on April 5 after failing to recover from illness, at the age of 85.

Chen Lihua is an outstanding female entrepreneur. In 1988, she founded an investment enterprise in Hong Kong—Fuwa International Group.

Fuwa International Group is a diversified industrial investment enterprise. Its pillar industries include real estate, culture and the arts, asset operation and management, finance, health, and more. The group has invested more than HK$4 billion to develop the Jinbao Commercial Street. At present, its strategic footprint has expanded to places including Beijing, Tianjin, Hainan, Guangdong, and Anhui, and it is actively opening overseas markets.

The Hurun Research Institute released the “2019 Hurun China 500 Strong Private Enterprises,” which shows that Fuwa International ranked 132nd with a market value of 50 billion yuan. In 2023 and 2026, the group was included in the “Hurun China 500 Strong Private Enterprises.”

Capital Star Capital Bureau notes that, as a legendary woman in China’s business community, Chen Lihua had remained the mainland China’s richest woman for many years. In 2025, with assets of 40 billion yuan, she ranked 82nd on the “New Fortune 500 Startups Creation List.” In the “Hurun Global Self-Made Women Entrepreneurs List” released in March 2026, her wealth was 47 billion yuan RMB.

According to incomplete statistics, over the years Chen Lihua has funded sports, education, healthcare, and disaster relief with amounts totaling tens of millions of yuan RMB. As reported by China News Network, in 2023, through the Beijing Zitan Cultural Foundation, she donated 10k pieces of cold-protection cotton-padded clothes to the areas affected by the Gansu earthquake.

Public records show that Chen Lihua’s husband is a well-known actor, Chi Zhongrui. He previously played Tang Seng in the 1986 edition of “Journey to the West,” and they married in 1990.
