In 2021, three new white-feather broiler chicken varieties, including the supporting line of “Guangming No. 2” developed through independent breeding in China, passed national review and approval, achieving a “breakthrough from 0 to 1.” Reporters learned that, at present, science and technology empowerment is helping China’s independent white-feather broiler breeding run at “accelerated speed.” In the testing workshop at the breeding farm, researchers are busy giving comprehensive checkups to tens of thousands of breeding hens. An AI intelligent system simultaneously analyzes ultrasound (B-ultrasound) and X-ray detection images, and within just a few minutes can accurately determine key indicators such as the development of the breast muscles and leg health. Using technologies such as genomic selection and AI intelligent analysis, the breeding farm applies the “Jingxin No. 1” breeding chip to shorten the breeding cycle by 2 to 3 generations and increase genetic progress by more than one time. Not only for white-feather broiler chickens: since the implementation of China’s Seed Industry Revitalization Action in 2021, through vigorous efforts to promote organized, systematic research and breeding breakthroughs, progress has been made in livestock and poultry breeding innovation and the promotion of new varieties.
