ChainCatcher message, according to a report by The Block: the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Michael Selig, said that when assessing which prediction market contracts are susceptible to manipulation, the agency will “largely respect the opinions of each sports league.”

Previously, the National Football League (NFL) sent letters to prediction market platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket, asking them to stop offering contracts tied to single-event results, drafts, injuries, and other contracts that are easy to manipulate or can be determined in advance, believing that such contracts could encourage manipulation.

On the legislative front, lawmakers from both parties have introduced a bill aimed at prohibiting sports-related contracts from being launched on prediction markets that are not regulated by the federal government, and multiple states have also challenged the legality of these platforms through legal means. Meanwhile, Major League Baseball has chosen a cooperative approach, partnering with Polymarket and signing an information-sharing agreement.
