According to CCTV News: On March 27, the first international commercial mediation academy in the country, jointly established by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Justice, the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, Harbin University of Commerce, and the Heilongjiang Provincial Mediation Association, was officially founded.

With the deepening of opening up to the outside world, the demand for resolving international commercial disputes is becoming increasingly urgent. The establishment of this academy aims to fill the talent gap in foreign-related commercial mediation and to serve the construction of a new highland for opening up to the north. The academy innovatively constructs a “dual mentor system with Chinese and foreign mentors and a segmented training model,” breaking through the disciplinary boundaries of traditional law and business studies, deepening interdisciplinary research between law, technology, and economics, and exploring new mechanisms for seamless connection among bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, as well as joint training for dual degrees.

The academy mainly carries out degree education, training of talents in foreign-related commercial mediation, and academic research on international commercial mediation, with degree education enrollment work starting in September. After graduation, students will work in foreign-related civil and commercial dispute resolution at mediation organizations, arbitration institutions, and other legal service agencies.
