Addressing common consumer concerns, the Beijing Consumer Association recently conducted comparative tests on 20 mainstream robotic vacuum models available on the market. The results show that the tested products perform well overall in core functions such as “single-room coverage” and “mopping cleaning,” but there are differences among brands and models in “rectangular hard floor cleaning” and “corner cleaning.”

Core Cleaning Performance: Overall improvement in coverage and suction, significant differences in corner cleaning ability

The samples for this test were purchased by staff of the Beijing Consumer Association as ordinary consumers from e-commerce platforms, involving 20 products from 13 brands including Trifo, Stone, Ecovacs, Yun Whale, Mi Home, Midea, Haier, Shark, and others. Prices ranged from 1,999 to 4,299 yuan. All samples were sent to an authoritative third-party testing agency, which conducted scientific evaluations based on standards and testing methods such as QB/T4833-2023 “Home and Similar Use Cleaning Robots,” assessing seven key items: single-room coverage, rectangular hard floor cleaning, corner cleaning, mopping effectiveness, self-cleaning rate, hair entanglement prevention rate, and sterilization rate.

In the “single-room coverage” assessment, brands like Stone, Shark, Ecovacs, MOVA, and Haier performed excellently, with coverage rates exceeding 81%, earning five-star ratings, indicating that current mainstream products have relatively mature path planning and whole-house coverage capabilities. In the “rectangular hard floor cleaning” suction test, most products performed well in cleaning large debris, but there were differences in cleaning fine particles such as those from Xiaomi. Midea, Stone, Mi Home, and Haier showed relatively outstanding performance.

However, in the detailed cleaning scenario—“corner cleaning”—significant differences appeared among products. Based on the cleaning rates for “standard dust” and “Xiaomi” particles, some models from Yun Whale, Shark, Yingshi, Delmar, and Haier performed relatively average. Conversely, brands like Philips, UWANT, MOVA, Trifo, and Mi Home performed better in the same tests.

“Mopping with self-cleaning” has become a standard feature, but “entanglement prevention” requires attention to actual data

The tests found that mopping, self-cleaning stations, and sterilization functions have become standard advantages of mainstream products. The cleaning effectiveness scores of all 20 products reached a “good” level (above 70 points). Among the 16 products claiming self-cleaning functions, Yun Whale, Midea, Haier, MOVA, Mi Home, Trifo, and Stone had self-cleaning rates exceeding 95%, earning five-star ratings. Of the 15 products with sterilization functions, all achieved or exceeded a sterilization rate of 99.99%, meeting household daily sterilization needs.

“Hair entanglement prevention” is a key concern for pet owners and people with long hair. Among the 16 products claiming this feature, overall performance was good, but specific data varied. The report points out that this function involves a system of roller brushes, air ducts, and side brushes; consumers should not judge solely based on advertising but should pay attention to detailed test data.

Consumer tips: purchase as needed, use scientifically

Based on the results of this comparative test, the Beijing Consumer Association offers the following purchasing and usage advice:

Compare data and buy as needed. The data shows that product price does not directly correspond to single-feature performance. Consumers can select based on house size, floor material, and core needs (such as focusing on suction, mopping, or hair entanglement prevention), paying special attention to models that received high ratings in relevant categories in the comparison report.

Focus on battery life to improve efficiency and reduce burden. “Battery life” includes working time and water tank (or wastewater tank) capacity. It is recommended to prioritize products with long battery life, large water tanks, or support for automatic water refill and drainage, to avoid frequent charging, refilling, and wastewater disposal, effectively reducing manual intervention and truly freeing your hands.

Maintain rational expectations and perform regular maintenance. Do not equate “self-cleaning” with “no maintenance needed.” Internal components such as the station, dustbin, roller brush, and side brushes still require regular cleaning and maintenance by users to ensure the robot remains in optimal working condition and maintains household hygiene.
