Adjustment to Gate Perpetual Contract Funding Calculation

Funding is the periodic payments exchanged between the buyer and seller in perpetual contract trading every 8 hours to ensure that the perpetual contract price is anchored to the spot price.



Gate has now adjusted the rule of calculating perpetual contract funding. Originally, the funding is calculated based on the current funding period, and thus cannot be settled until the end of the cycle. In order to improve user experience, Gate now calculates funding based on the previous funding period. For example, if the funding timestamp is UTC 16:00, the funding paid or received will be calculated based on the interval from UTC 0:00 to UTC 8:00.



About funding and funding Rate:



Funding = Position Value * Funding Rate (position value is irrespective of leverage).



If the rate is positive, then longs will pay and shorts will receive the rate, and vice versa if the rate is negative.



Funding is the periodic payments exchanged between the buyer and seller, Gate does not charge any fee.



Funding Timestamps: UTC 0:00, UTC 8:00, UTC 16:00

If you do not hold positions at these times you will not receive or pay funding.



The funding rate is calculated every minute, the average of funding rates over the 8-hour period will be used to settle the funding.
