Indonesian President Prabowo recently stated that if the “Peace Committee” initiated by the United States fails to support Palestinian interests, Indonesia may withdraw from the mechanism. Prabowo pointed out during a meeting with journalists and analysts in Bogor, West Java, that Indonesia’s decision to join the committee was driven by strategic considerations to promote progress on the Palestinian issue from within. He said that compared to staying on the sidelines, participating actively is more conducive to influencing relevant policy directions. However, he also noted that Indonesia’s participation is conditional and will be evaluated based on actual circumstances. If the committee’s decisions prove counterproductive or do not align with Indonesia’s consistent stance of supporting Palestinian independence, Indonesia will not hesitate to withdraw. He stated that Indonesia reserves the right to unilaterally withdraw from the mechanism without the consent of other members. Prabowo reiterated that supporting the establishment of Palestine is one of Indonesia’s long-standing diplomatic priorities, and Indonesia’s involvement in the relevant mechanism aims to make a positive contribution toward promoting a just and lasting solution.
