The core strategic objectives are close to being achieved. We will never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.” On the energy front, Trump still said: “We do not need oil from the Middle East. Thanks in part to Venezuela’s oil and gas, the U.S. is now completely independent of the Middle East. The recent rise in domestic gasoline prices is a ‘short-term’ phenomenon. Oil production will soon increase significantly. The U.S. has never been better prepared economically.” Regarding the most concerning Strait of Hormuz, Trump still did not provide a timetable for reopening: “We didn’t need the Strait of Hormuz in the past, and we don’t need it now. Once the conflict ends, the strait will naturally reopen.”
