My current habit is: first think clearly about the maximum loss, try with a small position directly, if the market is not right, cut immediately, don't wait for "a rebound"... Also, when there's a spike on-chain, if the slippage is high, I default to thinking someone is watching and sniping in the mempool, I'd rather lose a little less than turn off protection. By the way, recently before and after the upgrade/maintenance of that mainstream public chain, everyone in the group was guessing whether the ecosystem would migrate, I don't gamble on migration in advance anyway, the more such timing points, the easier it is to get chaotic, so I set my stop-loss and trading protections properly and went to sleep.
