Repeatedly attempting payments with insufficient funds, failing to cancel subscriptions promptly, or ongoing automatic charges from merchants can all lead to multiple failed payments and declined fees (Declined Fee). Developing the following card usage habits can help reduce unnecessary fees.
**The following cards currently incur a declined fee (Declined Fee): Blue Card, AI Card, and Gold Card.
**Orange Card, Graphite Card, and Silver Card are not currently subject to this fee. Please refer to the page display for details.
1. Avoid repeatedly attempting payments when your balance is insufficient
Before making a payment, confirm that the balance available for Gate Card purchases is sufficient to cover the transaction amount and any applicable fees, and leave an additional buffer.
If a transaction fails due to insufficient funds, add funds before trying again. Repeated attempts will not resolve an insufficient balance and may result in more declined transactions.
2. Cancel subscriptions you no longer use directly with the merchant
Subscription services such as video, music, cloud storage, and AI tools may automatically charge your card upon renewal. If your balance is insufficient or your card status is abnormal at the time of the charge, the transaction may be declined. Some merchants may also retry the charge multiple times.
We recommend reviewing your subscriptions regularly:
Services you wish to continue using: Ensure you have sufficient funds before the billing date.
Services you no longer use: Cancel the subscription on the merchant’s website or app, and remove your saved card details as needed.
Services for which you are changing payment methods: Promptly update the card linked to the merchant account.
Freezing or deactivating your card, or keeping a zero balance, does not replace canceling a subscription. In other words, if your balance is insufficient, your card is frozen, or your card has been canceled, the best way to stop further charge attempts is to cancel the subscription on the merchant platform.
3. Take prompt action if a merchant’s charges continue to fail
If you receive multiple payment failure notifications from the same merchant, check whether there is a subscription renewal, an unpaid order, or another automatic payment arrangement.
If you wish to continue using the service, confirm the charge amount, add sufficient funds, and check your card status. If you no longer use the service, cancel the relevant service and any future payment arrangements with the merchant.
4. Identify the cause of a failed payment before trying again
Avoid repeatedly submitting payments within a short period before confirming the reason for the failure.
Before attempting payment again, check:
Balance:Whether your available balance is sufficient.
Card status:Whether the card has been activated, frozen, canceled, or expired.
Payment information:Whether the card number, expiration date, and CVV have been entered correctly.
Transaction limits:Whether the transaction exceeds the applicable transaction limit.
Payment verification:Whether you have completed the required verification as prompted.
Merchant support:Whether the merchant supports card payments and the MCC code is supported.
If the cause remains unclear or the issue persists, stop retrying and contact the merchant or Gate Customer Support.
5. Check linked services before deactivating or replacing your card
Before deactivating, freezing, or replacing your card, we recommend checking for subscriptions, automatic renewals, and other automatic debit services linked to the card. Cancel the services or change the payment method with the relevant merchants.
Managing your card only on the Gate Card page does not mean that subscriptions or payment arrangements with merchants have been canceled.
6. Is a declined fee charged when a payment fails?
For each Gate Card, the first 6 declined transactions in each calendar month are exempt from the declined fee. Starting from the 7th declined transaction of the month, a fee of 0.5 USDT is charged for each declined transaction.
The number of transactions is calculated separately for each card and resets at the beginning of each calendar month. For the specific scope of application and fee standards, please refer to [Gate Card Fee Schedule Link].
After receiving a payment failure notification, investigate and address the issue promptly to avoid accumulating fees due to repeated charges from the merchant.
7. What should I do if I cannot cancel a subscription or remove a linked payment method?
First contact the merchant’s customer support to request cancellation of the subscription, disable automatic renewal, or remove the payment method. If the issue still cannot be resolved, contact Gate Customer Support for assistance.
When requesting assistance, you may provide the merchant name, transaction time, transaction amount, and the last four digits of the card. Do not provide your full card number, CVV, PIN, or SMS verification code.
