Mars Finance information, according to The Block, reports that a judge of the New York Supreme Court, Kathy J. King, signed an order to pause a lawsuit seeking to claim ownership of 39,069 dormant Bitcoin wallets, with a hearing scheduled for July 14 on a key amicus brief. The plaintiff in the case is pseudonymously named "Noah Doe" and two shell companies, seeking to claim these wallets under New York's Unclaimed Property Law. Lawyer Ian R. Cohen submitted an amicus brief opposing the plaintiff's claim. He argued that the Unclaimed Property Law applies to tangible items, whereas blockchain addresses are always visible to the world; if the original owner cannot access assets due to security vulnerabilities, it is passive loss of access rather than voluntary abandonment. Cohen emphasized that the plaintiff does not possess the private keys, and the blockchain network exhibits "structural indifference" to judicial rulings; the court's declaration cannot truly transfer ownership of the assets and may instead be used by the plaintiff to mislead exchanges and custodians. Previously, on May 26, it was reported that an American man and two companies filed a lawsuit seeking ownership of over 39,000 dormant Bitcoin addresses.
