Mars Finance information, May 11th, according to Fortune, the U.S. Treasury Department has paid approximately 628 billion USD in net interest expenses this fiscal year to cover the growing national debt interest burden.
Data shows that the current U.S. federal government debt is close to 39 trillion USD, with interest payments averaging nearly 30 billion USD per day, about 29.6 billion USD/day.
This scale has exceeded the annual expenditure on major programs such as Medicaid.
Financial data also indicates that interest expenses in the first seven months of this fiscal year have surpassed 628 billion USD, higher than the core welfare expenditures such as Medicaid and Medicare during the same period, making it the second-largest expenditure item for the federal government.
Analysis points out that the rise in interest costs is mainly due to the expansion of debt scale and the maintenance of long-term interest rates at high levels.
Although short-term interest rates have fallen somewhat, overall financing costs remain in a high range.
In addition, growth in tariff revenue has somewhat alleviated fiscal pressure, with customs tariff revenue this fiscal year increasing by over 200% year-on-year, reaching about 190 billion USD.
Under the combined effects of high debt and high interest rates, the sustainability of U.S. finances and the debt interest burden are becoming core issues of ongoing market concern.
