Goldfinance reports that on May 5th, U.S. intelligence assessments show that after two months of ongoing conflict and multiple strikes, the time required for Iran to develop nuclear weapons has “basically not changed.” Sources indicate that last year, U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities had delayed its nuclear timeline to “about 9 months to 1 year,” but the latest assessment suggests that the new round of military actions since February 28th this year has not further substantially weakened Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The report states that the current U.S.-Israeli military focus is mainly on Iran’s conventional military capabilities, leadership, and defense industrial system, rather than systematically destroying nuclear facilities. This is also an important reason why the progress of the nuclear program has not been significantly delayed. Intelligence officials point out that to truly prevent Iran’s nuclear program, the key lies in managing its existing stockpile of highly enriched uranium. (CCTV News)
