Gold Financial reports that on May 4th, over the past few weeks, Adam Back has repeatedly been asked the same question in different settings and by different people: whether he is the inventor of Bitcoin. His answer is negative. He stated that he is not, and emphasized that he has been clarifying this for years.
Previously, The New York Times in early April, through analyzing writings from the early cypherpunk era, called him the most credible candidate for Satoshi Nakamoto — the anonymous person who released the Bitcoin white paper in 2008 and disappeared in 2011. A few weeks later, a documentary proposed two other candidates.
In response, Back continued his usual approach: denying this attribution, explaining why people keep making such guesses, and then continuing to focus on his work.
