Golden Finance reports that on June 20, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, 25-year-old Ixia Garcia and 24-year-old Raymond Garcia pleaded guilty Thursday in the Federal Court of Minneapolis, admitting to entering a home in Grant, Minnesota, from Texas on September 19, 2025, armed with guns, binding victims and their families with zip ties, and coercing them to surrender access to cryptocurrency accounts.
Ixia then drove a victim to the family's vacation cabin in northern Minnesota, forcing them to retrieve additional encrypted storage devices and complete a transfer. The entire crime lasted over 8 hours, resulting in the theft of more than $8 million in cryptocurrency assets.
Eventually, the victim's son called 911, and the brothers fled the scene, but investigators identified the suspects through items left at the scene and arrested them near Houston.
Both admitted to threatening victims with guns and have agreed to return over $8 million in stolen funds. Each robbery charge carries a maximum of 20 years federal imprisonment, with sentencing date yet to be determined.
