Golden Finance report, June 8th, according to Cryptobriefing, Hungary's new Minister of Technology Zoltán Tanács stated that he will cancel the previously considered unreasonable restrictions on the crypto market. The regulations implemented by the government on July 1, 2025, introduced criminal penalties for unauthorized crypto services, causing platforms like Revolut to cease offering crypto services in Hungary and significantly increasing compliance costs for local businesses. Tanács described these regulations as politically motivated measures rather than prudent regulation. Additionally, Tanács also indicated that there might be modifications to the regulations concerning cybersecurity audit agencies related to the EU NIS2 directive, with approximately 4,000 Hungarian companies facing a compliance deadline of June 30th.
Zoltán Tanács assumed the role of Minister of Technology in Hungary's new government (formed after the April general election) in May 2026.
