BLUR on-chain data observation, this wave of position volume surged 54% in 24 hours, but the price directly dropped by 12 points, with data and market behavior moving in completely opposite directions.

This kind of pattern where position volume pushes up while the price drops is mostly caused by someone taking the hit, not the normal volume accumulation by retail traders missing out and then re-entering.

Large on-chain transfers are also increasing simultaneously, some in the market believe it’s smart money bottom-fishing on the left side, but I tend to see it as a gamble — the bulls are holding on to unrealized gains and adding margin to avoid liquidation.

A few days ago, this structure of OI surge + price divergence appeared several times, and in the end, it was just a matter of digesting high leverage before the trend continued.

Right now, the feeling I get from the BLUR market is that the needle hasn’t yet reached its end; if the position volume continues to expand, the price will likely need to find a liquidation zone below, breaking through the thin margin of the bulls before stopping.

I haven’t touched BLUR this time, not because I’m bearish, but because I’ve stepped into several pits with this kind of surge in position volume without price follow-through before. Whether those “smart money” on-chain are truly building positions or institutions hedging, we’ll only know after some liquidation data comes out.

Looking under the hood now, the logic of not getting carried away with positions is actually the most practical in these kinds of assets.

Speaking of these anomalies where position volume diverges from price, recently the entire sector has been playing this data game. $LAB 16 points, $ALLO 8 points, several small tokens are showing this pattern of volume expansion without a clear direction.

The perspective from the volatility radar suggests that such abnormal fluctuations do not necessarily indicate a building opportunity, but rather a risk signal. Some market participants are front-running, others are passively adding to their positions, and as liquidity tightens, the first to be liquidated are always the follow-the-trend funds.
