Golden Finance report, 4th May: According to a survey commissioned by CoinDesk of 1,000 registered voters in the United States, only 1% of respondents listed cryptocurrency as the most important issue in the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, ranking nearly last among all concerns.
In contrast, cost of living (36%), employment and the economy (13%), and social security and healthcare (11%) are the issues voters care about most.
The survey also shows that overall, U.S. voters hold a somewhat negative view of cryptocurrencies, with only 27% of respondents having invested, traded, or used cryptocurrencies, and another 27% indicating they might participate in the future.
About 47% of respondents believe the Republican Party is more friendly towards cryptocurrencies, while only 14% think the Democratic Party is more supportive of the crypto industry; however, in terms of “which party they trust more to manage crypto affairs,” Democrats lead slightly with 27% over Republicans at 25%, and 40% say they do not trust either party.
Although cryptocurrencies are not a core election issue, about 40% of respondents still prefer to vote for candidates whose views on crypto align with their own, indicating that digital asset issues continue to grow in influence within U.S. politics.
