#Gate

Recent craze for meme coins has been booming, and Little God of Wealth also joined in. During the May Day holiday, I summarized my recent profit and loss situation and found that it was “a fierce operation like a tiger, but a record of 0-5,” probably many new investors are the same, obsessed with studying K-line techniques and chasing hot coins, thinking that mastering these will allow them to dominate the market. But reality dealt them a heavy blow: after frequent operations, the account principal kept shrinking, profits were few and far between, or even lost everything. Along the way, Little God of Wealth feels that the ultimate secret to trading coins has never been hidden outside of technology, and that is—controlling your hand.

Frequent operations: the invisible black hole devouring principal
Crypto market

The 24/7 trading mechanism means the market is constantly performing dramatic rises and falls. Every price jump seems to be inviting traders “Come and make money.” Many people lose their rationality in this atmosphere; with money in their accounts, they can’t help but buy, and if the price doesn’t rise in a few days, they want to switch. Trading dozens of times a day has become normal.

This seemingly diligent operation is actually working for brokers. Frequent buying and selling accumulate high fees, spreads, and slippage costs, which can erode thin profits in a short period. Even more frightening, frequent trading can trap people in a vicious cycle of “overtrading.” When you constantly watch the market, your emotions are pulled by every fluctuation, and negative emotions like anxiety and greed keep breeding, leading to impulsive decisions. For example, seeing a coin suddenly surge, you chase high without regard, only to face a pullback immediately after entering, getting caught at a high point; or due to small losses, you panic and cut your losses, but the market rebounds immediately after, selling at the bottom and losing everything.

Losing money, luck-driven behavior

When trading coins, not being able to control your hand is essentially a manifestation of being controlled by emotions. The crypto world is an amplifier of emotions; greed, fear, and luck are human weaknesses that are magnified here.

When making profits, greed makes you feel uncontent. Even if you’ve already reached your take-profit target, you keep thinking “a little more,” arbitrarily adjusting your take-profit point, hoping the market will keep rising. But the market never moves according to your wishes; often, just as you hesitate, profits start to retreat, and in the end, you not only fail to earn more but also lose the profits you’ve made. As an experienced crypto trader shared: he once planned to take profits when Bitcoin rose to $50,000, but out of greed, he waited for it to reach $60,000. As a result, Bitcoin kept falling, and he sold at $30,000, losing not only all profits but also his principal.

When losing money, luck-driven psychology takes over again. Even if you’ve hit your stop-loss level, you’re reluctant to cut losses, thinking “the market will reverse,” holding onto a “wait and see” mentality, allowing losses to grow. From minor losses to severe ones, eventually getting trapped or even liquidated. This behavior is exactly like gamblers trying to recover losses after losing money, only making you sink deeper and deeper.

Controlling your hand doesn’t mean doing nothing in the market; it means learning to wait, restraining impulses when there are no clear signals, and only acting when the probability of success is high. It’s like a hunter hunting: most of the time, they observe and wait, only pulling the trigger when the prey is within range.

To achieve control, first you need to develop a clear trading plan. Before each trade, specify entry point, stop-loss point, and take-profit point, and execute strictly according to the plan. For example, if you plan to buy a coin when it retraces to $2000, set the stop-loss at $1800 and take-profit at $2500, then when the price reaches $2000, buy decisively; if it falls below $1800, stop-loss and exit; if it rises to $2500, take profit and exit. This helps prevent emotional impulses from leading to impulsive decisions during trading.

Second, learn to control your position size. Many people can’t control their hand because they always want to invest all their funds in the market to maximize profits. But this approach is extremely risky; if the market moves against you, you face huge losses. Proper position control means dividing your funds into several parts, only using a portion for each trade, so even if one trade results in a loss, it won’t significantly impact your overall account.

Finally, stay calm and rational. During market frenzy, don’t be blinded by the hype and blindly chase rising prices; during panic, don’t be controlled by fear and sell impulsively. Learn to think independently, analyze the market’s essence, and not be fooled by superficial rises and falls.

Of course, everyone understands these principles, but in actual trading, it’s hard to control your hand—restless when empty, overconfident when holding positions. Besides setting strict trading discipline, Little God of Wealth doesn’t have many other methods. Do you have any tips for controlling your hand? Share your tricks in the comments!
