China expressed hope that France will play an active role, promote the European Union to maintain an open market, and resolve China-Europe trade disputes and frictions through dialogue and negotiation.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on Saturday saying that China is willing to cooperate with France, strengthen bilateral investment, and provide a fair business environment for investment and cooperation between enterprises of both sides.

The statement pointed out that Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Chief Negotiator for International Trade Ling Jihui met on Friday with Dumen, Director General of the Treasury Department of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty, to express high concern over the EU’s series of foreign subsidy investigations into Chinese companies’ investment and trade.

Ling Jihui also discussed the EU’s “Industrial Accelerator Act” and the draft amendments to the “Cybersecurity Law.” Ling Jihui said that these measures would constitute trade and investment barriers and systemic discrimination, which would seriously affect normal China-EU economic and trade cooperation and the stability of the global industrial supply chain.
