Monad is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain designed to tackle the long-standing blockchain trilemma of speed, decentralization, and security. With innovative execution models, optimized storage, and an advanced consensus mechanism, Monad delivers high throughput and low latency while enabling developers and users to participate easily.

Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain engineered to combine high speed, security, and full Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility. Its architecture is optimized to overcome the traditional trade-offs between throughput, decentralization, and security, achieving up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS), with block times of 0.4 seconds and final confirmation in just 0.8 seconds.

Key Technological Innovations

Monad’s performance is supported by four primary technical components:

1.Optimistic Parallel Execution
Unlike conventional blockchains that process transactions sequentially, Monad allows non-conflicting transactions to run simultaneously. Transactions are assumed to be conflict-free initially, with conflicts resolved post-detection. This approach maintains EVM compatibility while achieving 10,000 TPS in testnet environments.

2.Asynchronous Execution
Monad separates transaction consensus from execution. Nodes first determine the order of transactions and then execute them asynchronously, improving overall network efficiency and accelerating block finalization.

3.MonadDB: Efficient On-Chain Storage
To address blockchain state bloat, Monad introduces MonadDB. This SSD-based storage solution allows nodes to operate on standard hardware, reducing operational costs and lowering entry barriers for decentralized participation.

4.Consensus and Block Propagation Enhancements
Monad utilizes the MonadBFT consensus protocol to minimize forks and increase block stability. Combined with RaptorCast for fast block propagation and JIT compilation with pipelined processing, transaction execution is significantly accelerated without compromising decentralization.

Monad’s Core Value Proposition

Monad prioritizes speed, security, and decentralization. Its EVM compatibility enables developers to deploy Ethereum-based dApps directly, reducing cross-chain adaptation efforts. Lower hardware requirements empower more users to operate full nodes, advancing genuine decentralization and fostering Web3 ecosystem growth.

MON Tokenomics

Monad’s native token, MON, is designed with decentralization and long-term network health in mind. The total supply is capped at 100 billion, with no pre-mining or private sales.

Token Distribution Highlights:

  • Public Sale: 7.5% (7.5B MON), fully available at TGE
  • Community Airdrop: 3.3% (3.3B MON), completed between Oct 14 – Nov 3
  • Ecosystem Development: 38.5% (38.5B MON), allocated gradually for validator incentives, dApp support, and subsidies
  • Team: 27% (27B MON), 1-year lockup followed by 3-year linear release
  • Investors: 19.7% (19.7B MON), 1-year lockup, then monthly unlock over 4 years
  • Category Labs Treasury: 4% (4B MON), same lockup rules as investors

Key Design Features:

  • Locked tokens cannot participate in staking, preventing early reward monopolization
  • First-day circulation is only 10.8%, supporting price stability
  • Inflation and deflation mechanisms: 25 MON per block (~2% annual inflation), base gas fees burned to maintain long-term supply balance

Conclusion

Monad sets a new standard for high-performance Layer 1 blockchains. By combining parallel and asynchronous execution, a robust consensus protocol, and efficient storage, it delivers exceptional speed and reliability while lowering the barriers for decentralized participation. With full EVM compatibility and thoughtfully designed tokenomics, Monad provides a practical, secure, and scalable solution for the next generation of blockchain applications.
