Japan's Financial Regulator Monitors Rising Interest Rate Risks to Banks
According to Yutaka Ito, chief of Japan's Financial Services Agency, the regulator is closely monitoring how financial institutions manage risks from rising interest rates across bond holdings, corporate lending, and long-term mortgage portfolios. The FSA has gained sufficient visibility into financial institutions' asset conditions and is currently reviewing their risk management practices. "If we identify shortcomings, we will urge corrective measures," Ito said.
