Gate US is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Gate Card, a new payment solution that will allow eligible users to spend USDC in everyday transactions through the Gate US mobile app, with automatic conversion to U.S. dollars at the point of sale and global acceptance wherever Visa is supported.
The Gate Card is issued by Lead Bank, Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. Once launched, the card will allow users to fund a card account using USDC and make purchases at Visa-accepting merchants worldwide. The conversion from USDC to USD occurs automatically at the time of each transaction; applicable rates and any associated fees are disclosed at the time of funding and within the cardholder agreement.
Please note that USDC and other cryptocurrency balances held in your card account are not bank deposits and are not FDIC insured. FDIC deposit insurance applies only to eligible U.S. dollar deposits held at Lead Bank and does not cover cryptocurrency or stablecoin balances.
The Gate Card will be available in both virtual and physical formats, providing flexibility across online and in-store payment scenarios:
Gate Card users will earn rewards points on eligible purchases. Points are redeemable for USDT through the Gate US app at a rate disclosed in the rewards program terms. Redemption of points for USDT may constitute a taxable event; users are encouraged to consult a qualified tax advisor. The rewards program terms, including point values, redemption options, expiration policies, and eligibility, are set forth in the Gate Card Rewards Terms and are subject to change or discontinuation.
