applying for jobs is still one of the most effective ways to get hired.
there’s a lot of noise saying “build a brand and opportunities will come.” sometimes they do, but it’s not a hiring strategy on its own.
use every method available to you to land a role: apply consistently, network, build your personal brand on the side and follow up constantly.
there are people looking to hire directly from socials but most companies still follow the traditional method of advertising their role and waiting for applicants so don’t lose out by neglecting it.

if you’re trying to build a “personal brand”:
commit to posting about one subject at least once/twice a day for the next 12 months.
watch how you’ll grow both in terms of your skill but also your audience.

founder based marketing only takes you so far.
early on, a founder’s voice can drive trust and attention, especially when the company is small and scrappy but that advantage has a ceiling.
take tesla for example: the brand leaned heavily on elon as its main marketing engine.
but, when his public perception shifted, that attention turned into friction and sales felt it as there was no separation between tesla and elon, they were the same entity in people's minds.

you need to be more bored to be a better marketer.
think about it: where do most of your best ideas happen?
in the shower, on a walk, when you’re sat there doing nothing.
all your best ideas come when you have nothing else on your mind not when you’re busy, overworked and always in “go mode”.
so take breaks and find time to be more bored to let your best ideas come to you.

not got a quality reply to a post?
hit like.
it costs you nothing and is still a way to be visible and show support and build your presence.
do it enough to enough people and they’ll still feel your support and give it back, even when you got nothing to say.

what posting habit made the biggest difference to your results on socials?

you don’t know the line until you cross it.
you, as a social media manager/marketer, will do something that pisses off people or controversy at some point.
that’s normal.
if you never do, you’re playing it too safe. learn from it, adjust, move on.
