Golden Finance reports that on April 8, U.S. President Trump said: “Based on discussions with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sheerif and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, they asked me not to deploy destructive forces against Iran tonight, and, on the condition that Iran agrees to fully, immediately, and safely open the Strait of Hormuz, I have agreed to suspend the bombing and attacks against Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a two-way ceasefire! The reason for doing so is that we have already reached, and even surpassed, all military objectives, and we have made significant progress toward a long-term peace agreement with Iran as well as a Middle East peace agreement. We have received Iran’s ten-point proposals, and we believe they provide a viable basis for negotiations. Nearly all of the past dispute points between the United States and Iran have been agreed on, and the two weeks of time will allow the agreement to be finalized and take effect. As U.S. President, and on behalf of countries across the Middle East, I am very honored to make progress in resolving this long-standing issue.”
