US media: US and Iran mediators make final efforts to secure a 45-day ceasefire

Golden Finance reports that on April 6, according to the AXIOS website, four U.S., Israeli, and regional officials who are familiar with the negotiations said that the United States, Iran, and a group of regional mediators are discussing the terms of a potential 45-day ceasefire agreement, which could ultimately end the war. The sources said that the chances of reaching some part of an agreement within the next 48 hours are low, but this last effort is the only opportunity to prevent the war from escalating sharply. The 10-day deadline set by President Trump for Iran was originally set to expire late Monday. But on Sunday, Trump extended the deadline by 20 hours and posted a new cutoff time on his social media “Truth Social”: 8:00 p.m. Tuesday Eastern Time. Trump told AXIOS on Sunday that the U.S. is engaging in “intensive negotiations” with Iran, and said that an agreement could be reached before his final deadline expires on Tuesday.
