Golden Finance reports that on April 5, Mehdi Tabatabai, deputy director for press and communications affairs at the Iranian presidential office, made a stern statement on the regional situation and the issue of passage through the Strait of Hormuz on April 5. On social media, Tabatabai launched a fierce attack on U.S. President Trump and his policies, accusing him of resorting to insults out of “desperation and anger,” and saying that his reckless actions have sparked a full-scale war across the region. Regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz, Tabatabai stated that the Strait of Hormuz would only be fully reopened after a new legal framework is established and after Iran is compensated for all losses it suffered in past wars by using revenue from past ship taxes.
